Things spotted on tour: submitted by Chuck from The Defog | Los Angeles, CA
So I’ve been wracking my brain trying to figure out how to break this thing down into pieces, and they will very tentatively (because if you’ve ever researched something before, you know that things rarely, if ever, work out the way you think they’re going to) be the following:
I have some other ideas for introduction and conclusion segments, as well as more detailed expressions of all segments listed above. Obviously this is very much a work in progress. I don’t really know how it will turn out, but I figure that at least if I hold myself accountable for this every step of the way on the internet, it will at least turn out.
For those of you who are wondering: at this point, I’m approaching this project through a narrative nonfiction lens. I want to somehow incorporate a kind of zine format (maybe?) with audio pieces that reflect radio journalism (also, maybe?). Kind of like a giant weirdo multimedia research storytelling history…thing.
I don’t really quite know how it’s going to look yet, obviously. For the moment, I just want to gather as many source materials as I can and figure out how to sort through them properly at a later date.
The dumb “about this project” page won’t let me post links, but the post of Will’s that is referenced can be found here.
Edit: “about this project” page has become less dumb, but I’ll leave this post here anyway until Will gets embarrassed and wonders why his blog is getting a bunch of random hits.
